I believe that in many cases, that is very true. Susan Forward, Ph.D., in her book, Men Who Hate Women and the Women Who Love Them, expresses an observation that there is actually a fear of the opposite sex rather than a hatred. I find that to be a helpful thought to consider. I also appreciate your perspective of pointing out the male victims of abuse. As a female, I write from that POV because it’s what’s natural to me and therefore how I best express myself.
